課程概述 |
The course includes two main areas: one is the foundation and the knowledge and skills of occupational therapy (OT) practice in pediatrics; the other is the OT practice for children with different conditions and in different arenas.
The knowledge and skills of pediatric OT include the theories, principles and techniques for assessment and intervention of performance areas such as feeding and oral-motor skills, postural control, hand skills, visual perception, psychosocial development. Assistive technologies and adaptation for independent living will also be introduced in this course.
Occupational therapy for children with varied conditions such as attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder, and challenging behaviors, and occupational therapy practice in different arenas such as school systems and neonatal intensive care unit will also be introduced. |
課程目標 |
After finishing the course, the students will
1) know the foundation and the knowledge base of pediatric occupational therapy practice.
2) be able to assess and design intervention to improve performance areas and skills such as postural control, , visual perception, psychosocial and emotional regulation, feeding and oral-motor skills, self-care and adaptation for independent living.
3) know the basic occupational therapy practice guidelines for children with varied conditions and in different practice arenas such as the School Systems and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. |
