課程概述 |
In this course, fundamental concepts of fluid mechanics will be introduced. Specific topics shall cover basic properties of fluids, description of fluids at rest and in motion, kinematics of fluid motion, flow analysis using control volumes and differential methods, dimensional analysis. Engineering applications using approximation solutions include topics of: potential flow, internal viscous flow, external flow over a sphere and boundary layer theory. If time allows, basic concepts of compressible flows will be introduced.
Additional learning resources (fluid videos and online materials) will be provided. |

6. Incompressible viscous flow with analytic solution (internal flows) [Ch8]
7. Scaling analysis and approximate governing equations
8. Approximations of inviscid flow (Bernoulli), irrotatioal flows; potential flow [Ch10]
9. Creeping flow approximation [Ch10]
10. Approximation with boundary layer theory [Ch10]
11. External flow: drag & lift [Ch11]
12. Dimension analysis and similitue [Ch. 7]
