4. You will practice tailoring your written and oral presentations to your target audience. (CILO 1, 2 & 5)

Course Requirements

Attendance
Class attendance is mandatory. Absences will be excused for critical reasons only. No matter what reasons you have for your absence, please talk to me in advance if possible. A maximum of three excused absences will be the limit; beyond that your grade will be marked down by one third for each absence. E.g., A to A-, B+ to B, and so on. Five absences or more, excused or unexcused, will cause you to fail this class.

Readings
Read carefully before class, make sure that you understand the authors’ points, and come prepared with questions (including those about any points you disagree with) and possible answers. An important thing about the reading is to reflect on your own writing and recognize the gap to be filled. Part of this gap-filling task is to be taken up through the practices we do in class.

Assignments
What demands most of your effort in filling that gap will be your assignments. To complete this course, you will be asked to (1) write 2 paragraphs and 2 essays, (2) give an oral or poster presentation of your research, and (3) submit a final portfolio at the end of this semester. DO NOT turn in your assignments late. If you do, they will be marked down a third for each day late, including weekend days.

Grading
1. Paragraph and essay writing: 60%
2. Move analysis: 10% 3. Oral or poster presentation: 15%
4. Portfolio: 15%
