課程概述

This course aims to provide students with physical understanding of automotive vehicle dynamics including simple lateral, longitudinal, and ride quality models. An overview of active safety systems will be introduced including the basic concepts and terminology, the state-of-the-art development, and basic principles of systems, such as ABS, traction control, dynamic stability control, and roll stability control. Also, passive, semi-active, and active suspension systems will be analyzed; advanced automotive control systems including drive-by-wire and steer-by-wire systems, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping systems will be introduced.

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to follow the literature on these subjects and perform independent design, research, and development work in this field. 

課程目標
The main objective of this course is to introduce and familiarize students with vehicle dynamics models, control system design concept and system performance analysis techniques. Through the lectures, homework assignments and the term project, students will learn sufficient background knowledge about modern automotive control systems as well as practical problem-solving techniques for further research in this field. Also, students will gain the hands-on laboratory experience on vehicle dynamics modeling and control system analysis and design using professional computer-aided analysis & design tools including MATLAB, SIMULINK, and CarSim.
