This course contains electromagnetic waves, microwave engineering, and antenna designs. In the first few weeks, we will quickly review the theory of electrostatics, magnetostatics, and electromagnetic waves. We will explain the wave propagations in different media and the reflection/transmission phenomena. Then, we will discuss the waveguides and transmission line theory including impedance matching, smith charts, S-matrix, and filters. In the last few weeks, we will introduce antenna theory and the design/fabrication process of an ISM-band planar antenna. To have a better understanding, numerical simulation (Matlab), circuit simulation, and finite element simulations will be used in the courses. |
