Statistical mechanics is the branch of the physical sciences that provides a solid connection between the macroscopic properties of matter and intermolecular forces, allowing the former to be calculated from knowledge of the latter. The course aims at providing engineers, physicists, chemists, and biologists with working knowledge of the fundamentals and applications of statistical mechanics through classical examples.
