課程概述 |
Nanoparticles have one or more dimensions of the order of 100nm or less. These materials have novel properties that differentiate them from the bulk material at the nanoscale and differ depending on materials fields of applications. This course will introduce students to the field of nanomaterials and nanotechnologies and will provide a comprehensive overview of the nanomaterials preparation, characterization, application, and environmental implications of nanoparticle use. The course will focus on different types of nanomaterials including nanoparticles, nanowires, and nanotubes, two-dimensional (2D) materials, thin films, and nanostructures. The types of nanoparticles will include inorganic, organic, and hybrid nanoparticles. The range of special nanomaterials such as graphene, carbon nanotubes, quantum dots, nano-porous materials, and nanocomposites will be discussed. The basic concepts will be discussed including nano-scale effect, process-structure-property relationship, nano-structure properties characterizations, multi-functional materials, nano-device fabrication, and their applications. The future of nanomaterials and nanotechnologies, as well as health and environmental considerations related to nanomaterials, will also be discussed in this course. |
課程目標 |
The course's main objective is to enhance the critical, creative, and innovative thinking of students by understanding the main concepts of nanomaterials and nanotechnologies. The multidisciplinary course will provide the knowledge of the underlying materials science of nanotechnologies to understand the production, properties, and applications of nanomaterials and devices. |
