課程概述

This course aims to provide a "multiscale" view of computational modeling for applications in engineering. It covers multiscale atomistic modeling and simulation methods, focusing on mechanical properties of a wide range of materials. Topics include mechanics of materials and atomistic and multiscale modeling, including molecular dynamics, application of finite element method, visualization, data analysis, numerical methods, and supercomputing. 

課程目標
The objective of this course is to introduce large-scale computational modeling techniques and motivate its importance for solving problems in modern engineering sciences. This course will demonstrate how computational modeling can be successfully applied to understand the mechanics of materials for solving engineering problems. The goal is to provide students an overview of theoretical tools for computational modeling from nano- to macro- scales that will be useful in future engineering researches.
