課程概述

本課程為遺傳學的入門課程，內容以古典遺傳學 (transmission genetics) 基本概念與遺傳之分子基礎的介紹與說明為主，輔以介紹族群遺傳學與數量遺傳學等領域重要的觀念。
本課程的授課內容包括：
1. Mendelian inheritance
2. Chromosomes and cellular reproduction
3. Chromosome theory of inheritance
4. Extension of Mendelian inheritance
5. Linkage, recombination & gene mapping in eukaryotes
6. Chromosome variation
7. Bacterial and viral genetic system
8. DNA: the chemical nature of gene & chromosomal structure
9. DNA replication & recombination
10. Gene transcription & RNA modification
11. The genetic code and translation
12. Gene mutation and DNA repair
13. Control of Gene Expression
14. Population genetics
15. Quantitative genetics 

課程目標
 使學生熟悉遺傳學的基本原理及研究方法，並能銜接其他進階遺傳學領域的學習。 
課程要求
 如果同學有讀過一年高中基礎生物學即可入門。若無這方面的背景，建議同學須修過生物學，植物學或動物學。
