課程概述

本課程為遺傳學的入門課程，內容以古典遺傳學 (transmission genetics) 基本概念與遺傳之分子基礎的介紹與說明為主，輔以介紹族群遺傳學與數量遺傳學等領域重要的觀念。
本課程的授課內容包括：
1. Mendel’s principle of heredity (textbook chr.2)
2. Extension of Mendelian inheritance (textbook chr.3)
3. The chromosome theory of inheritance (textbook chr.4)
4. Linkage, recombination & the mapping genes (textbook chr.5)
5. DNA structure, replication, and recombination (textbook chr.6)
6. Anatomy and function of a gene (textbook chr.7)
7. Gene expression: the flow of information from DNA to RNA to protein (textbook chr.8)
8. The eukaryotic chromosome (textbook chr.12)
9. Chromosomal rearrangements and changes in chromosome number (textbook chr.13)
10. Analyzing genomic variation (textbook chr.9-11)
11. Variation and selection in populations (textbook chr.21)
12. Genetics of Complex Traits (textbook chr.22) 

課程目標
 使學生熟悉遺傳學的基本原理及研究方法，並能銜接其他進階遺傳學領域的學習。 
課程要求
 如果同學有讀過一年高中基礎生物學即可入門。若無這方面的背景，建議同學須修過生物學，植物學或動物學。
