課程概述 |
This course provides an introduction to fundamental statistical concepts and methods used in data analysis. The first part covers descriptive statistics, including graphical and numerical techniques for summarizing data. The second part introduces inferential statistics, focusing on probability concepts, sampling, estimation, and hypothesis testing. Emphasis is placed on practical applications rather than mathematical derivations. In lab sessions, students will use R software to develop essential skills in data processing and statistical computing. |

課程目標 |
By the end of the course, students will be able to (i) summarize and visualize data, (ii) apply probability and sampling concepts, (iii) perform statistical inference to make data-driven conclusions, and (iv) develop basic proficiency in using statistical software for data analysis and interpretation. |

課程要求 |
• Roll call will be taken randomly.
• Class attendance and participation will be considered in case of a borderline grade.
• No response will be given to requests for grade adjustments unless there is a clear error.
• Homework assignments must be submitted on time in class. Assignments submitted up to 24 hours late will receive a 30-point penalty. No assignments will be accepted after that without a valid, documented excuse.
• Student collaboration is allowed and encouraged, but you must submit your own assignment. |
