課程概述

The interdisciplinary field of (stem) cell technology encompasses a wide array of topics, including stem cell biology, organoid development, biomaterials in stem cell research, and the implementation of innovative techniques such as microChips or organ-on-chips. Understanding the regulation of stem cell therapies is crucial for navigating the ethical and legal landscape surrounding their use in research and clinical settings. Moreover, a comprehensive study also involves exploring the social implications of stem cell research and assisted reproductive technology, addressing ethical concerns and public perceptions. In addition to advancing scientific knowledge, there is a growing emphasis on translating research findings into practical applications, with a focus on industrial applications and the establishment of business plans or branding strategies to facilitate the commercialization of stem cell-based products and therapies.

課程目標
Gain the knowledge of certain perspectives of cell technologies and their application in medical, animal, agriculture and environmental solutions
Acquire fundamental knowledge in stem cell biology
Understand the power and basic mechanism of cellular reprogramming to de-differentiation
Be able to describe the differences and potential/application of 2D and 3D cell models and organoids
Understand the common molecular mechanisms across “Stem Cell Differentiation”, “Sex-Chromosome Dosage Compensation”, ”Parental-Origin Specific Genomic Imprinting”, “Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (Dolly the sheep)”, ”Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Reprogramming”
Explain the concepts of Epigenomics in lay language and scientific terms
Significance of Cell Technology in Regenerative Medicine, Pharmaceutical Industry, Toxicology Testing, Cancer Therapy, Species Preservation, ..
