This course focuses on how to apply mathematical programming model on managing environmental quality. Environmental systems analysis is usually utilized to solve an environmental problem and is composed of two stages, which are systems design and systems analysis. Systems design means how to transfer an environmental problem into mathematical programming model, i.e. mathematical equations. Systems analysis means how to derive an optimal solution to the problem. When dealing with environmental problems, we always try to find out an optimal solution, which environmental systems analysis provides such a tool for engineers.
