課程概述 |
This course offers a rigorous introduction to microeconomic theory designed for students in the Agricultural and Applied Economics master’s program. The first half covers producer theory, including production technology, profit maximization, cost minimization, and duality, equipping students to analyze firm behavior in diverse market and production settings. The second half focuses on consumer theory, examining utility maximization, choice, demand, and welfare analysis. Both mathematical formulation and intuitive interpretation are emphasized, fostering the ability to connect formal models to real-world economic problems. Applications draw from agricultural markets and policy contexts to bridge theory with practical economic decision-making. |

課程目標 |
Students will learn to apply microeconomic theory to analyze producer and consumer behavior, including technology, cost, profit, choice, demand, and welfare. Emphasis is on mathematical modeling, intuitive interpretation, and real-world applications, particularly in agricultural and resource economics, preparing students for advanced analysis of policy and market issues. |

Class attendance will be recorded randomly. Unless you notify the instructor of a legitimate reason prior to class, there will be no makeup for missed roll calls. |
