This course examines the culture and institutions of knowledge production and dissemination. The subjects under study include both scientific and non-scientific knowledge. It reviews four themes: 1. culture of academic institutions and disciplines; 2. culture of scientific knowledge; 3. oral and print culture; 4. cultures of non-intellectual knowledge, such as medicinal, sexual, and national.
