課程概述 |
This course is not restricted to students of entomology. Students from any departments can take this course. If unable to register online, please contact the instructor.
The instructor will email enrolled students about the first meeting (please check your NTU email account). In the first meeting, a meeting time and place for the semester will be sought that will be convenient for most or all of the students. Enrolled students who do not receive an email by 5 pm on Mar. 2 should contact the instructor. Students who are unable to register online or register after Mar. 2 should contact the instructor by email.
This is a special topic course, and thus the topic varies by semester. This semester (108-2), we will study models that are used to study selected topics of insect ecology. Specific topics that will be covered in the course will be decided in the first meeting by considering the interests of enrolled students.
Models dealt in the course are not statistical models. Students who are interested in statistical modelling (e.g., data analysis) may consider taking ENT5053 instead. However, depending on the need and interests of students, some statistical topics may also be discussed in the course.
To understand/study models, we may try to reproduce models in published studies. Any required skills (e.g., computer programming) will be taught in the course. No previous experience with modelling, computer programming, or mathematical analysis is needed. |
