1. Aims and Objectives of this Course (課程宗旨及目標)
The course will give a fundamental and general overview of small animal clinical ophthalmology. The lecture course will predominantly cover ocular conditions of the dog and cat. Students are encouraged to read books and literatures in this area, starting from ocular clinical anatomy and physiology, diagnosis techniques, to diseases occurred in all parts of the eye.
2. Score Assessment Method (成績評量方式)
The grades of the course will be given based on one written report and one final term examination.
3. Lecture Outline (講授內容大綱)
The course includes the following sections:
1. General introduction
2. The clinical anatomy and physiology of the eye in small animals
3. Clinical examination techniques
4. Common ophthalmic terminology
5. Conditions of the globe and orbit
6. Conditions of the eyelids and third eyelid
7. Conditions of the pre-corneal tear film and nasolacrimal system
8. Conditions of the conjunctiva
9. Conditions of the cornea and sclera
10. Glaucoma
11. Conditions of the anterior uvea
12. Conditions of the lens
13. Conditions of the posterior segment (fundus)
14. Ocular lesions caused by systemic diseases
15. 討論臨床病例判讀、診治 (Differential diagnosis of ophthalmic signs)
