課程概述 |
Management science (MS) is a field of study that intends to solve decision making problems that confront and confound managers in both public and private sectors by developing mathematic models for these problems. |
課程目標 |
。The primary objective of the course is to provide students with a series of modeling concepts, quantitative approaches, and interpretation skills that are extremely useful to decompose complicated business problems.
。Students are expected to
(1) follow the structured and systematic procedures to identify key information to construct some well-defined conceptual models in algebraic form,
(2) apply the conceptual models to develop executable Excel models and find the optimal solutions,
(3) conduct sensitivity analysis to answer what-if questions, and
(4) interpret the analytical results provided by Excel correctly and confidently.
。The modeling techniques listed above are demonstrated and explained with straightforward examples.
。This particular set of modeling and problem-solving knowledge and skills should help students enhance their capability of making more insightful business decisions.

1. Facilitate self-learning, particularly from established printed materials.
2. Encourage group-learning and co-working via sharing and discussing: Each group must cooperate closely to help each other learn so that the whole team will grow together.
3. Earn practical problem-solving experience by hands-on doing.
