The objective of this course is to give students an overview of major theories, debates, and empirical results in international finance. We will focus on the following topics: current account, global imbalances, currency exchange rates, exchange rate regimes, foreign exchange parity relations, foreign exchange determination and forecasting, and global capital markets. Although these topics may be highly mathematical, we will quickly review the technical parts and emphasize the concepts and intuitions of them. Students are encouraged to ask and discuss the applications of these theories in the real world. In addition, students have to read and present some papers from central banks.
