課程概述 |
This course is designed to be integrative, drawing upon foundational material to which you have been exposed in core curriculum courses. Our orientation will be both analytical and managerial, focusing on the development of concepts and strategies that can increase your effectiveness in developing policies and practices that general managers can use to enhance the value of the people in their organizations.
The seminar is about both the theoretically and empirically oriented. The intended audience of this course is doctoral students in Business Administration, particularly, those interested in Organizational Studies and Human Resource Management. Students are expected to build knowledge of current theory and practices in HRM. Moreover, they are expected to develop related abilities on conducting academic research in the HRM fields. |
課程目標 |
The purpose of this seminar is intended to provide doctoral students a foundation for knowing the domain of human resource management research. Students will be exposed to critical conceptual and theoretical issues in strategic human resource management, work design, staffing, training and development, compensation, performance management from theoretical perspectives, and also the empirical studies. |
課程要求 |
Class Procedure and Students Participation:
Students are expected to be well-prepared for class by reading all papers required for a given class session, thinking critically about the themes and issues that characterize their content, and preparing to actively participate in class discussion. Class sessions will be spent evaluating, integrating, and supplementing the material presented in the readings.
There is at least one course leader for every paper section meeting to lead course discussions.
In this course, students are expected not only that they can learn how to READ the research papers in HRM field, but also that they can learn how to REVIEW and ASSESS these papers.
1. Students are required to lead the discussion of the assigned literature, and criticize papers in the class.
2. Based on the given topic, students who lead the discussions have to organize the course, search the literature to find the appropriate papers for other classmates, and lead the discussions. Every student is required to find an empirical article for every empirical studies section, and lead the discussion about the paper. The paper should be published in journals which are in the recommendation list of General Management Field of MOST. The readings should be announced one week before the date of discussion.
3. Except for the leading student, other students should also prepare the materials before the class and participate in the discussion actively.
4. Students are required to write a research proposal in the related HRM field. |
