課程概述

This course will introduce students to the principles in conducting a systematic and quantitative review of randomised controlled trials and observational studies. The course will be structured by the critical steps in conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis, with particular emphasis on common pitfalls when doing such an analysis. A series of case studies of important public health and medical issues will be used as in-class examples. The course consists of lectures, computer labs using common software packages for meta-analysis, and a final group project resulting in a draft meta-analysis paper. 

課程目標
The goal of the course is to provide the students the general framework of conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis. At the end of the course the students are expected to be able to read and critically appraise the literature of systematic review and meta-analysis and to conduct his or her own meta-analysis. 
課程要求
The students are expected to have taken introductory-level courses of epidemiology and biostatistics. The final group project (with a group size of 2~4) will be a meta-analysis report that can be submitted for publication after further revision.
