課程概述

此為一學分、上課時間為8/31, 9/1 上午8-17時。
Mixed methods research (MMR) is rapidly growing methodology in social science, education, public health, and public affairs research. The purpose of this one-credit course is to provide graduate (masters & doctoral) students with an introduction to the emerging field of the modern mixed methods research, while examining the types of research questions that can be answered by mixing quantitative and qualitative methods of inquiry. This course will brief the core and complex types of MMR designs and examine important issues relevant to MMR and its application across disciplines.

課程目標
At the end of the course the students are expected to:
1. Explain the rationale and benefits of using MMR in identifying key socio-behavioral and community factors that affect the health of individuals and populations (MS-B).
2. Apply MMR concepts and terminology in article review in the field of public health research and practices (MS-B).
3. Critically examine empirical studies applying MMR in the development and evaluation of social and behavioral science interventions (MS-D).
課程要求
Students are expected to:
‧ Come prepared to learn about the subject and actively participate in lectures and discussions
‧ Complete all course assignments & activities

1. Attendance (10%) - Attendance is expected at all class meetings.
2. In-class activities & participations (50%) – All students are expected to come prepared to participate class discussions & activities. Participation and professionalism are critical to the success of this course. This class is highly participatory, and it is difficult to make-up a missed class session.
3. Mini-Assignments (x2) (20%)
4. MMR course reflection report (20%)
