課程概述

MRI has been widely used in brain studies. Numerous technologies, including functional MRI (fMRI), Diffusion imaging(DTI) have been applied to study cognitive processes in vivo. However, various pitfalls in MR experiments may result in misinterpretations and associated conclusions. The purpose of this course is to focus on fundamentals as well as experimental details so students can achieve accurate fMRI, diffusion imaging and the related electroencephalography (EEG) data for their hypothesis validation.
Students will learn (1) what the practical concerns are on EEG, fMRI and DTI and (2) how to perform post-processing to present these results. This course will place more emphasis on the realistic aspects in performing EEG and MRI experiments, although some theoretical aspects of these neuroimaging techniques will be covered also.
For optimal learning effects, fundamental MRI will be required as the prerequisite for this course. Students without MRI backgrounds need to discuss with instructors before taking this course.

Textbook: There is not a single up-to-date quantitative book containing most of the materials in this course, but several reference books are recommended in appendix I.
