課程概述 |
The main goal of this course is to develop and practice effective technical writing skills in English, with a particular focus on writing for successful submission to top conferences in computer science. Since no one likes to read rejection letters and see their research effort go to waste, this course aims to help student write their research work in a manner that maximizes the best chance of gaining acceptance. This course is suitable for students who have an in-progress research project (or at least have narrowed down a research idea) and are planning to prepare a paper contribution to a top CS conferences. This course is based on studio teaching, in which the class will read, dissect, and critique both good and bad papers previously submitted to top conferences. In additional to class discussion, the course instructor will conduct one-on-one sessions with students on their individual papers. At the end of the course, students are expected to have a write-up of their research work for paper submission. Given the research areas of the course instructor, this course instructor may impose a limit on students whose research areas are in HCI (Human Computer Interaction), Multimedia, Systems, and Networking, or related areas. |
