課程概述 |
This course aims to blends theoretical knowledge and practical application to address cybersecurity challenges facing civil society, which is development by UC Berkeley’s Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics. It is designed for students from diverse backgrounds, including those with expertise in information security, information science, and social sciences. Students will learn about cybersecurity principles, ethical considerations, and risk management, while actively engaging in projects that offer real-world cybersecurity solutions to vulnerable NPOs and SMEs. The collaborative environment encourages each student to leverage their strengths and gain new skills, preparing them for multifaceted cybersecurity challenges in the public interest sector.

課程要求 |
This course strongly encourages students interested in information security from non-information science backgrounds as well as students from information backgrounds who are eager to strengthen their communication skills. We are looking for three types of students:
1. Students who have previously taken a cybersecurity course: You possess a certain level of knowledge and skills in information security. You are expected to contribute this expertise to the team, helping to identify and mitigate cyber risks effectively and implement the solution.
2. Students with a background in information science: You have studied courses related to information science and possess managerial thinking and communication skills. Your role will be crucial in managing the team's projects and ensuring clear communication both within the team and with our external partners(client).
3. Students with experience in social science research methods (such as interviews): You are interested in information security and risk management. Your skills in qualitative research and understanding of societal impacts will be invaluable in assessing the human and social aspects of cybersecurity challenges.
In solving clients' cybersecurity issues with their group, students have the opportunity to assume roles that leverage your strengths while also learning from your teammates in areas where you seek improvement. |
