課程概述 |
To understand the fundamental theory and enabling technology of optical, photonic, and optoelectronic devices employed in versatile optical communication networks including fiber-optic, free-space and wireline/wireless links. The physics and principle of transmitters, medium, modulators, amplifiers and receivers will be particularly emphasized in this course.
Course content includes the Overview of Optical Communications, the Waveguides and Fibers, the Guided Mode and Field Theory, the Modal and Chromatic Dispersion in Fiber, the Semiconductor Physics of Light Sources such as.Gain, Efficiency, and Response of LED and Laser Diodes, the Cavity Mode Theory of LDs, the Single-Mode Lasing, Modulation and Pulsation of LDs, the Electro-Optic Mach-Zehnder and Electro-Absorption Modulattors, the Photodiode and Receivers. |
