課程概述

1.Introduction: Review of key results from Digital Communications I.
2.Fundamentals of Information Theory: Entropy, mutual information, channel models, channel capacity.
3.Source Coding: Source coding theorems, coding for discrete sources, coding for analog sources.
4.Channel Coding: Channel coding theorem, block codes, convolutional codes, trellis-coded modulation, concatenated codes, automatic repeat request.
5.Fading Channels: Channel characterization, narrowband and wideband characteristics, diversity techniques, receiver signal processing.
6.Spread spectrum and wideband communications: Direct-sequence spread spectrum, frequency-hopped spread spectrum, multi-channel and multi-carrier communications.
7.Multiuser communications: Multiple access techniques (TDMA, CDMA, FDMA, random access methods), multiuser detection.
 

課程目標
This course will cover advanced digital communication theories including: Introduction, Fundamentals of Information Theory, Source Coding, Channel Coding, Fading Channels, Spread Spectrum and Wideband Communications, Multiuser Communications. 
課程要求
Grading
Homework assignments (30%), term project (30%), quizzes (40%).

1.Probability and random processes.
2.Principles of communications.
