課程概述 |
一、課程簡介 (Overview):
This course studies existing and emerging wireless data networks for Internet access, ranging from wireless personal area networks to global area networks. It discusses the concepts, system architectures, physical layer technologies, and medium access control techniques of these networks. In addition, it investigates the design and performance of various network layer, transport layer, and application layer protocols proposed for wireless access networks. Topics covered in this course include:
(1) Overview
(2) Wireless wide area networks
–Evolution toward the third generation (3G) mobile systems
(3) Wireless local area networks
–WiFi and the IEEE 802.11 alphabet soup
(4) Wireless metropolitan area networks: Bridging the gap
–WiMax and IEEE 802.16
(5) Wireless global area networks: Sky is the limit
–Stratospheric and satellite networks
(6) Wireless personal area networks: Short is beautiful
