This course examines the interaction of law and social movements, with particular attention to the criminal legal system, immigrant detention, the rights of migrant workers and the stateless, and public law. How do social movements shape constitutional theory and law? What strategies, both legal and nonlegal, should lawyers consider to create social change? How can lawyers engage creatively with a democratic public? This course invites practitioners from Taiwan and across the world to speak to students.
