課程概述 |
生物學是一門探討生命現象的科學，內容涵蓋巨型分子、細胞、組織、器官和各系統的結構與功能、生命的遺傳、生物的分類、生命的起源及演化、動物的行為以及生態與保育等主題，是現代人必須具備之基本知識，以迎接二十一世紀高科技時代之來臨。本課程以講演的方式，配合精彩的投影片，深入淺出的介紹每一主題的重要知識概念與最新發展。 |

課程目標 |
期望學生能對生命現象有一基礎認知，體會生命的奧妙，重視生命的意義。繼而引發學生對生命科學的興趣，繼續進修相關的高階課程，或在各自的專業上對生命奧秘的探討盡一份心力，以期早日瞭解生命現象的操作機制。 |

課程要求 |
Your grades will be based on the following components:
Quizzes: We will give quizzes every week. There is no big exam per se in the fall semester. We do not give make-up quizzes unless you have good reasons.
Homework: Dr. Lin will give several homework assignments over the semester. We do not accept late homework.
Attendance: Do not skip classes. You need to come to the classes to earn
credits for your grades.
The total points you collect from quizzes and homework will be prorated to a 100-points scale. We will use a normal distribution scale to evaluate the whole class.
Please note that the instructors in the spring semester (2010) may have a different course policy.
