課程概述 |
This course teaches the fundamental principles and practice of some state-of-the-art microscopic methods. It focuses on the following aspects: 1) how each method works, theoretically and practically; 2) how each of the method can be used in integrative approaches to solve scientific problems; 3) how microscopic data should be presented and interpreted. |

課程目標 |
The goals of the course are to help students master the basic concepts and skills of sample preparation and instrument operation, understand why, where, and when to apply a particular technique in research, and how to effectively present their own data as well as evaluate published data. |
|
課程要求 |
The students are required to attend each class. Because of the nature of this course, some labs may run beyond the indicated hours. In addition, the students will need to come to the lab to perform certain experiments and practice certain techniques on their own during non-class hours. For some experiments the students will be divided into groups. Members of each group should have complementary class schedules so that they can work as a team by taking turns to come to the lab to continue certain experiments that involve procedures lasting for many hours or even days. |
