課程概述 |
Genetics laboratory includes several hands-on experiments to introduce methods and analytical tools in genetics. The experiments include cytogenetics, mutant analyses, segregation assay, linkage analyses, molecular genetics, and population genetics. We integrate genetic approaches as a mini-project for students to generated small deletions by CRISP-Ca9 transgenic tools in Drosophila. In addition to experimental and analytical skills, students must record their experimental results in detail and write a full report.

The ultimate goal for this course is to enhance students ability in independent research and in applying genetic approaches to real world questions. |

Students have to complete all experiments during this semester. For the mini-project, two students will work together on CRISPR based gene knockout. A final oral presentation and a written report are required. |
