Most organisms on the earth perceive external cycling of daily changes like light-dark exposure or temperature fluctuation for internal responses and increase their fitness in the environment. Such internal responses appearing rhythmically between a period of one full day ~24h, are called "circadian rhythm". the circadian rhythmicity of plants also functions as a clock for plants to anticipate daily changes of the surrounding environments and is involved in regulators of multiple biological pathways. The students will pick or be assigned literatures for his/her presentation about plant research including "signal input of circadian rhythm", "gene regulation of plant circadian clock", "signal output of circadian rhythm", or "regulatory feedback loops". |
Students will know the new studies about the plant circadian clock, learn the scientific logic of experiment designation, research methods, and thinking via the article reading, presentation, and discussion. |
1. Students read the listed review articles in "Assigned Readings" first.
2. Students will survey the literatures and pick up the article with the instructor two weeks before his/her presentation. All students will need to discuss and comment on the chosen article during the discussion. |
