THIS GRADUATE COURSE AIMS TO TEACH THE FUNDAMENTALS OF ADVANCED MASS SPECTROMETRY-BASED PROTEIN
MODIFICATIONS ANALYSIS AT BOTH SINGLE PROTEIN AND OMICS LEVEL. THE COURSE WILL BEGIN WITH AN
INTRODUCTION TO THE GENERAL ASPECTS OF BIOLOGICAL MASS SPECTROMETRY (MS), FOCUSING ON RECENT
ADVANCES IN MS INSTRUMENTATION AND TECHNIQUES, WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO CURRENT STATUS OF GLOBAL AND
TARGETED QUANTITATIVE SHOTGUN PROTEOMICS. THIS WILL THEN BE FOLLOWED BY EXTENDING THE TECHNICAL
PLATFORMS TO ANALYSIS OF A WIDE RANGE OF PROTEIN MODIFICATIONS, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON THE GENERAL
ASPECTS OF SAMPLE PREPARATION, ENRICHMENT, DATA ACQUISITION AND ANALYSIS. FINALLY, MORE IN DEPTH
DISCUSSION WILL BE GIVEN TO CURRENT TRENDS IN PROTEIN PHOSPHORYLATION AND GLYCOSYLATION ANALYSES,
ENCOMPASSING PHOSPHOPROTEOMICS, GLYCOPROTEOMICS AND GLYCOMICS, WITH PERSPECTIVES ON THEIR
RESPECTIVE BIOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE AND PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS.

- PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS IN MS-BASED PROTEIN MODIFICATION ANALYSIS
- PROTEIN PHOSPHORYLATION ANALYSIS AND QUANTITATIVE PHOSPHOPROTEOMICS
- THE BIOLOGY AND THE OUTSTANDING ISSUES
MODULE 3 (4 LECTURES + 1 TUTORIAL SEMINARS)
- ESSENTIALS OF PROTEIN GLYCOSYLATION AND GLYCOBIOLOGY FROM STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS PERSPECTIVES
- WORKFLOWS IN SINGLE GLYCOPROTEIN ANALYSIS, TOWARDS MAPPING SITE-SPECIFIC GLYCOSYLATION PATTERN
- MS-BASED GLYCOMICS AND GLYCOPROTEOMICS
