課程概述 |
This course has been scheduled for the second semester in each academic year in the future from now on. Therefore if there`s any BCT student who is interested in taking this course in the first semester of academic year 2000 (WS 00/01), it would be better for him/her to take it in this semester (SS 00) or in the second semester of academic year 2000 (SS 01). 一、課程簡介:
This course will be dealing with the most basic concepts of structural biology, starting with a short overview of protein crystallography. Then comes the description of crucial known structures, by discussing the structural-functional correlation with real structures shown on slides. More detailed but brief explanation of the methods often used in crystallization and structural determination will follow the structure-function part.
Students would be able to read structure paper without too many obstacles after finishing this course. If still interested, an advanced course named #Introduction to protein crystallography#, which also takes two hours per week in one semester, would be available in the next following semester. In that case, principles and more details in 3-D structural determination will be emphasized.
Regarding the application of protein crystallography on biomedical science, a course named #Rational Drug Design# is being planned at this stage.
