課程概述 |
No matter the major or the career path, whether in a meeting room or on Instagram or from the pages of a magazine, students will face a future where they’re expected to produce English writing for a broad audience. In this class, students will analyze the writing of and produce their own writing similar to what they would use in a corporate environment, for a website, on social media, and more. Students will improve their critical thinking, analytical reading, thorough editing, and versatile writing skills. We’ll transform ideas and experiences into persuasive, well-crafted essays and article that include storytelling and attention-grabbing technique. We will consider audience, tone, and situation in order to be more efficient communicators. This course will also train students to incorporate help from AI-based tools as part of their writing process.
Writing assignments will include writing for social media (e.g., a blog post about a travel experience), for personal expression (e.g., a practice statement of purpose for grad school applications), and for critique (e.g., a review of a recent film). |
