Course Description


THIS COURSE IS REQUIRED FOR THE GRADUATE STUDENTS MAJORED IN NEUROSCIENCE, IN BOTH MASTER AND PH.D. PROGRAMS, OF THE GRADUATE INSTITUTE OF PHARMACOLOGY, COLLEGE OF MEDICINE, NATIONAL TAIWAN UNIVERSITY. ANY GRADUATE STUDENTS FROM COLLEGE OF LIFE SCIENCE, COLLEGE OF SCIENCE OR COLLEGE OF MEDICINE IN NATIONAL TAIWAN UNIVERSITY, WHO ARE INTERESTED IN NEUROSCIENCE DISCIPLINES, ARE ALSO WELCOME. THE STUDENTS TAKING THIS COURSE HAVE TO GIVE A SEMINAR BY PRESENTING A SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE PUBLISHED IN HIGH-RANKING JOURNALS IN THE FIELDS RELEVANT TO NEUROBIOLOGY, NEUORPHYSIOLOGY, NEUROPHARMACOLOGY, PSYCHOLOGY, NEUROLOGY, ANESTHESIOLOGY OR PSYCHIATRY. STUDENTS IN PH.D. PROGRAM ARE REQUESTED TO PRESENT A REVIEW ARTICLE AND THOSE IN MATER PROGRAM PRESENT THE REGULAR PAPERS.
 

Course Objective
THE AIM OF THIS COURSE IS HELP STUDENTS TO GAIN INSIGHTS OF THE UPDATE KNOWLEDGE IN NEUROSCIENCE, TO LEARN THE BASIC TECHNIQUE USED IN NEUROSCIENCE STUDIES, ESPECIALLY THE EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES USED IN NEUROPHYSIOLOGY AND PHARMACOLOGY, TO TELL THE CONS AND PROS, TO APPRECIATE THE DISCREPANCY, AND TO VALIDATE THE DATA AND CONCLUSION ADDRESSED. IN ADDITION, WE HOPE, VIA THIS COURSE, TO TRAIN THE STUDENTS TO IMPROVE THEIR LOGIC REASONING ABILITY AND ORAL PRESENTATION SKILLS AND ULTIMATELY TO BE ABLE TO JUSTIFY AND REVIEW A NEUROSCIENCE ARTICLE. 
Course Requirement
IT IS REQUIRED FOR THE STUDENTS TO FULLY UNDERSTAND THE CONTENT OF THE ARTICLE, JUSTIFIED THE EXPERIMENTAL DESIGNS AND SUMMARIZED THE RESULTS BEFORE PRESENTATION, AND FINALLY GIVE A SUCCINCT AND CLEAR PRESENTATION. FOR THE FIRST YEAR STUDENTS, THEY CAN DISCUSS WITH THEIR ADVISORS ABOUT THE PRESENTED ARTICLE AND HAVE A REHEARSAL BEFORE PRESENTATION. AN ACTIVE PARTICIPATION DURING SEMINAR DISCUSSION IS ALWAYS A PLUS IN THE SCORES.。
